EKSTRA SI VILMA SA MOVIE TRIBUTE FOR ATE GUY

I know the title sounds scandalous for avid and rabid Vilmanian. Well, freedom of speech baga, and I am basing my observation sa trailer pa lang alone. Yes, indeed, Vilma unwittingly become the ultimate symbol of Ate Guy’s legacy in this movie. This is the reason why I am excited to see this movie in full to further document my observation. Sa trailer pa lang kita mo na that this movie is a homage to Ate Guy. Here are my points

1. The trailer showed a character introducing herself as Ms. Macaspac. Decades ago, Ate Guy had a movie entered and won in annual edition of MMFF; ANG TOTOONG BUHAY NI PACITA M. And, I believe that it was revealed that M stands for Macaspac.

2. Another scene from the trailer a Sylvia Sanchez look alike screamed “I AM NOT A PIG!!!” Everyone knows about showbiz whether an insider or outsider, this is a humorous reference to a famous dialogue of an equally famous and great cinema classic “MINSAN MAY ISANG GAMU-GAMO.”

3. A scene in the trailer involving Cherie Gil reminds Noranian of another important and trailblazing film of all time; nanalo lang naman ang pelikula sa isang top tier film festival. Yes, I am referring the scene as reminiscent of The Flor Contemplacion story.

  1. not only in this movie. in THE HEALING(starring Vilma and Kim Chui) , the healer is named ELSA. Obviously referring to ELSA of HIMALA

    1. Ganoon, I did not watch The Healing kasi me bias ako pag horror, me psychotic imbalance ako sa multo, monsters, mangkukulam at iba pa.

I feel sad for Ate Vi kung tama ang observation ko after watching the whole movie in the coming months.

  2. In Sinasamba Kita, Lorna Tolentino (as Vilma’s sister in the movie) was NORA, whom Vilma hated or who was always at odds with her elder sister (Vilma). Did they do it intentionally so Vilma will be more effective in of someone portraying the role of someone who has so much hatred in her heart?

    1. Thanks for the feedback, I did not realize ang dami palang references sa Ate Vi movie for Ate Guy. Anyway, to be objective, I will also write an article about Ate Vi references sa mga movies ni Ate Guy, which I doubt if there was. I believe masyadong intelligent si Nora at alam niya.

  3. For me, parang medyo binibigyan niyo ng kulay ang pelikula. I love both Vi and La Aunor, pareho silang may malaking naiambag sa showbiz industry natin. May kanya-kanya silang husay at galing. Kaya never ako naging fan lang ng isa kasi para sa akin, both of them deserve utmost respect from us. Kaya ayun lang. Peace ;)))

  4. Peace be with you also, thank you for the comment. I did not have the intention of comparing which one is better. I am making these observations because I also expect a lot from this new movie of Ate Vi. The scenes I saw in the trailer is telling me something else that is why I need to see the movie in full.
