Of Labels and Lapels

by:  Alden I. Bula

Life is a travel, for us to unravel

Around us, full are ideas they label

The challenge then, is for us to ignore the lapel

People desired for us to become beholden

With their tags and labels on our chest

We thought we believe it is for the best

Instilled in our mind and in our spirit

Is the aim for us to gain demerit

But, if you are full strength and spirit

You know that you are not part of the label

Even if oftentimes, truth in the mind about the lapels

Ignore the tags and whatever labels

Others want you to wear as your lapels

At the end of the day, only you can make your label.
