What amuses me very often with movie reviews is that most reviewers tend to write one with one audience in mind; themselves. I observed this while reading several online reviews on the latest box office sleeper which is Dementia. Whether the review is positive or not, most of the reviews were constructed as if the reviewers are out to impress their professors:
- using grand language that readers have no idea what the word is all about.
- Quoting statements various academic journals, thesis, or dissertations in order to prove their contentions.
Thus, when I came across this review, I smiled and said to myself “finally something that can be understood by normal readers.”
You can the read the review which I consider as one of the best movie reviews about Dementia here.
