When you have a song that has no specific direction, it will be difficult to listen to. This is the over-all feel of the first song in this record “La Musica No Se Toca.” The musical arrangement has a built in soaring attitude but the refrain and chorus of the song did not result to this instead just maintain the tempo of the music.  It is like listening to rock ballad with only verses involved with no chorus and refrain.  Another confusing song is “Llamanda Ala Mujer Accion” which started with a good EDM beat and you hope that it will evolve into a future classic Latin electronic dance sound; unfortunately, he opted to go a little bit of rock.

Fortunately, that is not the whole problem of this album. The major issue here is that, it seems that Alejandro Sanz is quite stressed out vocally. You do not feel the sincerity of emotions that you are familiar with in his other albums.  The album is like forcing fans to listen to this and bank on his popularity as one of top Latin Artist ever.

Saving grace in this record are “Bailo Con Vos” which is a very sexy ballad, “Como Decir Sin Andar Decidiendo” if this is rock ballad, an English version of this song might find its way in any repertoire of current rock artists, and “Camino de Rosas” which proves that Mr. Sanz can be relied to tackle Latin song with Hip Hop beat.

Yes, the album is quite confusing in terms of musical direction.  At one point, you feel that it is going to be a Paul Carrack album.  Then, you have seconds thoughts as many songs in this record started like a dance beat and shift drastically to another beat; either rock or slow music.  I rate this record 2 stars out of 5 stars.

Ratings Description:
